Ghostlands 3-4 november 2007
Three years have now passed when the final stand of Quartak's vanguard stood against the free people of the Known Lands, in Morvania. Led by Fil-Finir of the Elven House Loramer, the evil tyrant and his unholy forces were vanquished and the rule of those not breathing was handed back to Drune the Unliving. Since that fateful day, a certain calm has descended upon the land. His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Otto has kept his word and enforced the law with a firm but fair hand. Sadly for the Crown Prince, this peace has come with a heavy price. His wife, Lady Ingrid Schlampe passed away in a riding accident about a year ago and he has yet to come to terms with the loss.
Since this tragic loss, the Crown Prince has keep his head buried in affairs of state. New treaties and trade routes have made and the principality is stronger than ever before. There is even a tentative trade route that runs from the Principality of Magary, Morvania's old adversary and thorn in its side. The old wounds of betrayal and revolution still burn between the two but commerce has cooled the embers. It has also been 'helped' by the death of his wife, as her Ladyship was a Magaryian by birth and Prince Wolfgang of Magary's cousin.
However, all is not quite as rosy as it seems. You have been approached by a reliable source who knows you are a person who is intrigued by mystery.. and possible a small reward. Various quantities of wares have been disappearing upon some of the minor roads into the city. Strangely those that have been targeted is: a shipment of candle wax; a wagon of bed linen, and; quantity of ballast destined for the Crown Prince's driveway. This would all seem merely a strange and annoying occurrence if it wasn't for the deaths of all but one courier. All the bodies were white as snow and cold as the frost. Even the wagon master who survived had his hair turned bleach white and has never spoken a word since.
A merchant, by the name of Wilfred Von Erkhart, has petitioned for this case to be looked into, as it could threaten the tenuous links with other areas if not stopped soon. He is willing to finance a select group to sort out the affair. You are requested to visit the village of Burghausen in Morvania, to meet with Herr Erkhart and other brave persons to discuss the terms.
