The plot / player background
While the regency of Danar flourishes, it seems that the stability of the Anvil realm and its western cities lies in the balance. Danar may now be free of daemons, but they continue to threaten the other realms of the south. Renewed Melanonian activity from beyond Warsham in the Shattered Lands has lead to the Orders of the Flame and the Rose riding to the northern borders. Then recently earth tremors begun between the realms of Aurea and Ackaran. To add further to the misery strong frosts and a wet spring have caused blight to affect the stored food and growing crops of both the Anvil lands and Aurea. Food is becoming very short. Whether these events are related, not even the wises Mystics of Gideon appear to know, however Mystics of Wydren walk the lands telling of a coming of the "conjunction" where all paths lead and may end.
Some hope rested with Lord Darkmere who gathered more and more to his army and had plans afoot to drive the cursed southern daemons "the Riagorm" from the realms. However, a dark rumour now suggests that Lord Darkmere has been poisoned or diseased and his army in Orwick along with its people are all in danger of starvation.
It is in these miserable times that a message comes to you from Lord Darkmere's trusted right hand "Snipe". He outlines a plan to save his Lord and perhaps save the cities, requesting for a group to join him in a trek to the village of Riddle and there enlist the aid of his old teacher" the master of the thieves of Aurea" to recover the lost Belizar of the Unicorn which has fabled restorative powers.
