The plot / player background
The village of Barrowmere nestles in beautiful woodland lying west of Tethic Vorrin, east of the Great Mere and within a few days' march of the hamlet of Heath Vale. Barrowmere has had a peaceful and contented existence since it was founded by its forefathers almost 80 years ago. It has prospered in sheep farming and pottery making, selling its wares at the sunday market in Heath Vale. Situated on a rich seam of clay, Barrowmere is renowned as having some of the finest potters to the west of Tethic Vorrin. Indeed these fine wares have even travelled to the far lands of Menas and been placed upon the vast caravans of the Saduki bound for unknown destinations in the southern lands. There is one craftsman in particular, Caddis the Potter, who has outshone the rest for many years now. His talent was evident from the age of six, when he was already producing finely-crafted figurines and sculptures.
Craven Swift, an acolyte of Calderon who recognised true talent when he saw it, struck up a friendship with the potter and met him every sunday without fail to purchase his wares. One sunday, however, Caddis did not attend. He had never before missed a market day, so Craven Swift went to the village to seek him out. On arriving at the village he met the potter's family who seemed gaunt and wracked with worry. They explained to the priest that Caddis had been missing for two weeks now - and no-one knew where he could be. Concerned that such a talented craftsman might be lost to the world, Craven swore an oath that he would try to locate the potter.
Through contacts you have within your area, you have been asked to investigate, locate and return Caddis to either his family or Craven Swift. Expenses will of course be met and the gratitude, be it in the form of money or information, will be available to those of a more mercenary bent.
