Natures Bounty IV: 5th - 8th August 2010

FOR PLAYERS OF PREVIOUS NATURE'S BOUNTY EVENTS:
The land of NOD-GORIN calls to you again in your dreams - is it the work of the ancient master or the interference of the watcher? It matters little, the dreams come; they are calling you and show the ancestral lands of the Water Tribe - though you have never seen them, somehow you know it to be true.

The vision shows you huge cliffs rising out of the sea, the devastation wrought here is greater than in any other part of the land, a result of the raising of the lands. On the surf-loud beaches lie the long spent hulks. The mats and splintered masts lie near fires kindled on the wet sand, and men move between the fires. They stand or crouch with their backs to the sea. Slowly they turn away and leave their homes of millennia. This image swirls away to become a scene of carnage, bodies hewn into piece, scattered warriors daubed in blood. The attackers are dim shapes, lost in the shadows - a feeling of treachery hangs in the air and all is dark once more. You awaken with words echoing in your ears: they say:

“You know some of what you do, look to your souls for they will soon be in his grasp”

Once more you are called to the ancient gate and you have little choice but to head back to the land of nature’s bounty. The calling is upon you and its urgency is increasing. With a deeply unsettling feeling that something is very wrong, you proceed.

FOR NEW PLAYERS:
Invited by colleagues or friends into the land of NOD-GORIN, you have come to an ancient gate that they use to get to the raised lands. What awaits you on the other side? Those with you have been tight lipped, revealing little. Soon the mysteries will be revealed, your questions answered...
Note: You must have an IC reason to attend the event.

Natures Bounty IV is a Low-High level adventure (but with some possible restrictions on magic - to be revealed on the event). Power award = 5.0

Lucien and the 14 Thieves: 16th - 18th July 2010

They can't say that life hasn't been interesting.

After years of swashbuckling, carousing, negotiation and blatant violence, it has finally sunk home how very expensive it has all been. Whilst journeying to the mysterious Temple of Stone, the party's talk turned to thoughts of gold and treasure which they believed they were to liberate. Unfortunately, these thoughts were short lived. After further escapades, funds are sorely depleted and now things have moved onto desperation. It has been agreed, in theory, that drastic action should be taken. They have been left with little choice but to carry out a well planned and daring raid to plug a much need hole in their resources. As to be expected, Lucien is very keen and has volunteered his 'special' talents immediately.

So it is that one morning you receive a very cheery letter (dictated by Lucien) from his associates (all checked out as legitimate):

"Esteemed and dangerous chums,

It is obviously with great reluctance (Luthien forgive this wretched sinner!) that I have temporarily got back in touch with a few associates from my former larcenous days to try and arrange a suitably enriching mission for you all. Happily, one of my more reliable sources may have a thread that needs pulling, if you catch my drift. I have asked him to meet us at the Green Dragon tavern on the great North road between Lenorithien and Orwick in 2 days time. The Dragon is a first-class (and traditionally violence-free) drinking establishment which many of you I am sure have frequented on numerous occasions during our various jaunts.

In anticipation of the task ahead, I have asked a few handpicked officials to attend to arrange transport for us and ensure we have safe passage on our little expedition. There may also be certain persons who may require a little encouragement to ensure full disclosure of all pertinent information, but knowing how persuasive some of you can be I am sure that won't be a problem! Furthermore (is there no end to my talents?), I've managed to negotiate a very reasonable discount on beverages and fare for the evening - it's amazing what some gossip about the innkeeper's daughter will do! Unfortunately for Arion the gossip isn't about her having a penchant for roughing it, but you can't have everything can you?

Personal abuse (ooh-err) aside, might I also make polite request that people try and refrain from slaughtering all and sundry in the inn? I know old habits die hard for some of you, but good taverns are hard to find these days and you just can't have a proper carouse if you end up with a load of Omagans turning up and bleating on and on about how super justice is and how naughty criminals are.

I look forward to meeting most all of you over a tankard of the Dragon's best – Myron, it's your round!

Yours disreputably,

Lucien,

Bishop of Danar, Scout of Tethic (1st Class with Honours), and second greatest thief in the land (reformed)"

Lucien and the 14 Thieves is an epic level event (1.5-3.0 power award).

A heavy Dwarven presence this year is guaranteed in the village of Rock. It is decreed by the church of Calderon that the annual tournament this year will be overseen by the Ridgeback Mountains dwarven skill guild. Famed for their precision construction of intricate artefacts as much as the time you have to wait for your precious order, the Dwarves have presented to the village of Rock a stone obelisk to be engraved with the name of the successful competition winner.

Although a celebrated event and a distraction from the encroaching dark world events, this years tournament has already attracted unusual attention. With the recent reforming of the Order of the Sword they are keen to secure the use of the Danarian severing sword for another year. Mercenaries of every kind travel to the tournament having heard rumours of the sword. Also a small fortune is being offered by an anonymous party to a successful champion to release and use of the sword during the coming year.

The dwarves themselves have let slip that the sword will be invaluable to them in the cutting and shaping of the finest and largest jewels recovered from deep under the ridgeback mountains. Their champions have been in long preparation for the competition.

Although the village of Rock is well protected the forests around teem with undesirables, children of walkers and other strange creatures ready to dispatch the unwary and perhaps take the swrod for themselves. Or will some unknown champion be destined to use this sword for the year in which apocalyptic battles are to come.

Natures Bounty III – Fire in the Heart: 15th -17th January 2010

FOR PLAYERS ON NATURES BOUNTY 2:
You dream a waking dream of the lands of NOD-GORIN. You saw the long pouring headland and smoking coast with the sea high on the rocks. Gulls cried and wheeled flung away from the sea. Dark wooded hills swarming with mists as far as your vision allowed you to see. Mist hung over the sea and you’re dreaming turned into the lands heart. The wooded hills give way to the magnificent spire cap of a volcano. The long dormant mountain now sparked back into life by the geographic changes wrought into the rising lands. Called once more by the ancient dreamer, he spoke to you in the dreamscape of his ancient territory. The time has come to gain the Heart stone, the fire gates key. Your dream showed you the gate that you know of in the wilds, you know you must travel to it again to continue this quest. The dreamer speaking in a voice quiet like a whisper, talked of urgency in this task and a sense of something disturbing on the periphery of his sight. What malign thing could be walking the Fire tribe’s grounds? What type of being could gain the attention of the ancient?

The dreamer’s presence fades away, the dream retreating into the subconscious. A surge took your mind back swiftly to dreaming, another presence swift and swirling into the dreamscape. A sharp scent like that of a burning pyre, and a face, swathed in a hood, came into your mindscape. It spoke to you asking but a single question “do you know what you serve?” With that it vanished back to smoke.

You awakened, feverish with a fire in your heart and the question within your mind. Do you know what you serve? The journey is a long one to the gate, with trepidation you set out for the gate to NOD-GORIN.

FOR NEW PLAYERS:
Your allies have brought you along to a task set by an ancient to rescue his long lost sister. They have trusted you to the task, over which they seem to be very secretive and not talking about much. All they keep saying is things like you will see when you get there. Well now all this mystery will come to an end and you can find out for yourself just why they have been so close mouthed. The gate before you is ancient, what secrets are beyond it, you will soon find out.

Natures Bounty III is a Low-High level adventure (but with some possible restrictions on magic - to be revealed on the event). Power award = 1.5-3.0.

Ungash: Guerillas in the Mist: 15 - 17 May 2009

Danar is at war! Nearly eight months have passed since the seemingly unstoppable military juggernaut of the Ungash Empire first rolled across the Western borders to eliminate the ‘insurgent forces’ that had been threatening its security, and now the map of Danar looks very different indeed.

Imperial soldiers, emboldened by the piecemeal resistance presented by the disunited Danari forces, now occupy the West and push inexorably toward the Danari heartland. The Regent, Princess Emereace, has called an urgent council meeting, summoning the squabbling factions that comprise Danar to force an accord between them before the war is lost. The Regent, however, is not without offers of aid from outside her borders: Other powers have interests in Danar and an enemy in the Ungash. Is the enemy of my enemy my friend? The Regent is about to discover the answer to that question for herself…

Meanwhile, in the occupied territory soldiers of the Regent lead by Lord Gavain wage a secret and bloody war of ambushes and assassinations against the invaders, striking from hiding and vanishing from sight, but as the Ungash begin to import the benefits of their advanced civilisation it seems not every Danari is opposed to their new masters remaining in power...

Guerrillas in the Mist is a mid-to-high level game of bloody guerrilla warfare against an implacable foe and a weekend of difficult choices where the actions of the players can have huge consequences in the game world.

The champions of sword, bow, mixed mêlée and light of hand to be rewarded with prize and to win right to try to withdraw and wield the legendary Danarian severing sword for the year.

However, these times are far from peaceful for the lands of Danar. The Avatars of war, death and pestilence have been seen to walk the lands .The threat of the Ungash ever grows in the west, while the wild cannibals “the crulag” grow in both number and daring in the east. Added to this far from welcome news that mystics of Drune have finally decided the location that the new great Quartakan temple is to be built but 60 miles to the north near the boarders between North Danar and Wrosham. A temple to be constructed entirely of the bones of these dead from the Quartak war. Even now wagon trains start to travel up and down the great north south road transporting materials.

Yet in the Village in the Rock such happening fall on deaf ears. It is rumoured that that the fearsome Kragmog has awoken from his long sleep and devours any not secure within their homes when the sun sets. Such is the fear of this beast a reward of 50 crowns has been offered by the Regency for any that can rid the land of the Kragmog.

The Legion Chapter 3: 27 February - 1 March 2009

"I do not take this crown lightly but I will not see Morvania bullied by those who would threaten us. We are a small nation and Aurea is a vast empire, but if they bring war to our borders I know that we will not flee from it. Remember Fort Ludwig! It was just a handful of soldiers of our Foreign Legion that stood against the might and aggression of our neighbour and yet they held firm. Those Nomads must surely have feared for their lives but still they stood their ground and said we will not succumb, we will not surrender. They may have been born beyond our borders; they may not yet have earned their citizenship, but they are already Morvanian in their hearts. We will not yield to those who would do us harm and I say to you now that if called upon we will crush our enemies, whether they lie beyond our borders or hide as a canker within the Motherland. We will wash them away in a tide of their own blood. We will have no compassion and no mercy. Morvania shall stand eternal and woe to those who in their ignorance think otherwise."

Extract from the accession speech of Crown Prince von Nacht

Following the heroic stand of the Nomads at Fort Ludwig they have been relieved at Dunkelmoore by the National Army and have returned to Morvania. With the ongoing threat of war Lord von Nacht has declared himself Crown Prince and challenged any who would gainsay his claim to wrest the title from him if they are able. It seems unlikely as the majority of Morvanian citizens seem glad of having such a strong leader in such difficult times and there is a strong, nationalistic mood throughout the country. Diplomatic missions still shuttle between Morvania and Aurea but few believe that there is any hope for peace and militias are mustering in every town and village square. The Nomads themselves now wait at the Hillsbad Barracks in the south west of Morvania, close to the Aurean border, waiting for the news from the Türdorf Conference, perhaps the last chance to avoid war….

From the Depths - 1-3 Feb 2008

A few miles off the Northwest coast of Tethic, between the Banath Isles and the mainland, Knobble Island has long been something of a curiosity. A couple of centuries ago it was gifted to Sir Montgomery Widget by the Duke of Port Elia for Sir Widget’s sterling work in cleansing the isle of the infamous Captain Nightblade and his band of pirates. One of the conditions of the Duke’s gift was that the island be maintained as a stronghold against future piracy in the area and ever since then the Widget family have stoutly upheld their end of the bargain. Recently, however, passing merchant vessels have seen smoke coming from the island and Fomorian ships have been spotted in the area. Although there have been no reports of piracy, the local commander of the Order of the Lance is naturally keen to find out what is going on. The Order of the Lance will provide a ship and crew to transport a band of adventurers to the island, but from there they are on their own.

From the Depths is a low-mid level adventure, suitable for new players & characters alike.

Darkmere - Blackhaven 12-14 May 2006

The peninsula of land between Wroshan and Ackaran, although technically in Danar, has no name. Its scorching desert has always thought to have been uninhabited. Rumours suggest it was a haven for pirates and smugglers. Seemingly accessible only by sea, crews could safely meet to refit and trade cargoes of drink, treasure and slaves. That was until recently. Now, even hardened pirates speak of a curse on the place, of monsters and savages roaming the shores.

The Omagan temple at Ty-Zen was petitioned and it agreed to take into service a group to investigate a missing ship called the Darkmere. They were authorised the use of force to deal with any outbreak of lawlessness in the Port of Blackhaven.

Sirens Call: The New World - 10-12 September 2004

While the rest of the known world’s eyes were focused on the struggle between Drune and Quartak, one man made an incredible discovery. Through a combination of gross navigational incompetence, a blinkered refusal to admit he was wrong and pure blind luck, Christopher Blunderbuss, captain of HMS Weevil, managed to do what no-one else in recorded history had done - cross the Great Western Ocean. He reported a new continent where the ground is rich with gold deposits and whose only inhabitants are primitive-seeming natives who worship animals. People from many disparate countries, religions, races and guilds rush to charter ships to take them to the new world...
